Most real estate agents charge a traditional 6% commission and in return, they agree to place your home in the MLS, market your property in newspapers, magazines, hold open houses and Broker's opens, create a flyer and do all the leg work in the transaction when an offer is received. This 6% commission is usually split 50/50 between the Listing Agent and the Buyer's Agent who brings the Buyer.
